The following three organizations
jointly took the initiatives in founding CPRA and now constitute the
core of its operation.

(Japan Council of Performers
Organizations)
Founded in 1965. In May 1967, the Minister of Education
approved its incorporation as a non-commercial juridical
entity to serve public interest. The organizations of
professional performing artists including actors, musicians,
dancers and variety entertainers constitute the membership
of GEIDANKYO, which is engaged in activities pertaining
to performers' neighboring rights, activities for the
promotion of performing arts and activities for the
welfare of performers. |

(Japan Association of Music Enterprises)
Established in 1963 by music production firms with a view to
development and improvement of music enterprises and related
businesses. In March 1980, the Minister of International Trade
and Industry approved its incorporation as a non-commercial
juridical entity to serve public interest. JAME is engaged in
research on music business, protection and management of intellectual
property rights, and activities of interchanges with related
organizations both in Japan and overseas. |

(The Federation of Music Producers
Japan)
Established in 1986. In September 1989, the Minister of Education
approved its incorporation as a non-commercial juridical entity
to serve public interest. Its membership consists of music production
companies to which artists of "new music" and rock
and roll music belong. FMP is endeavoring to protect artists'
neighboring rights and to secure producers' rights, and engaged
in activities intended to contribute to the development of musical
culture and enhancement of cultural life. |
